The Rolls Royce of pickups for any Slash fan... The famous pickups that equip the Kris Derrig used for the recording of Appetite For Destruction! It was thanks to these pickups that Slash decided to equip all his Les Pauls and later released a signature model.
Hand-wound in the 80s by Maricela Juarez (MJ), they have obviously gained enormous popularity over the years. And to have the same set on one of my Les Pauls, I must say it's deserved! A very sharp and precise sound, all the frequencies respond to the finger and eye... A joy for the ears!
Not to be confused with the Seymour Duncan Slash Pro or 2.0 released later, nor with the Alnico II of the 80s and 90s. These are all more or less different Seymour Duncan Alnico IIs, but the ones we're talking about here are exactly the same as the Derrig ones, the famous MJs, which have since become popular all over the world and sell out very quickly. They have that something extra that all the other Alnico IIs from Seymour Duncan don't have. A bit like the PAFs, all things considered, of course.
The dream comes at a price, but these pickups will make any Les Paul scream. My setup is in a 2014 Reissue 60, and I wouldn't trade them for anything else.
